Viennese Ball organizers in Ashgabat hope for pandemic decline and resumption of flight connections
The pandemic and related lockdowns have challenged the cultural life of the planet to set online, but not freeze. Museums, theaters, concert halls, art galleries, libraries offer the public a wide variety of virtual visits and shows, remote participation in thematic events.
Of course, such format is not same as a live concert or performance, and people understand that it is a forced necessity. We all hope that very soon we will get back to traditional “cultural trips” and art visits not just via a screen that conveys all the colors and even more, but does not convey the main thing – that amazing fluid, wchich cannot be converted into digital, because it is a part of the human soul …
No one denies the tremendous power of art even in its indirect perception. And still, the organizers of the Viennese Ball, which annually sees the triumphal welcome in the Turkmen capital, have a big hope that the coronavirus pandemic situation will change for the better, the borders will open, the flights will resume, and this wonderful show will be held in Ashgabat again, for the fifth time…
This year it was scheduled to be held in December, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan, along with the performance of the Galkynysh Turkmen-Austrian Symphony Orchestra, with the participation of mezzosoprano opera singer Vesselina Kasarova from Switzerland, already known to Ashgabat residents, and German singer Zoran Todorovich.
This is another project of the Austrian-Turkmen Society, created 12 years ago on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in honor of his first official visit to Vienna in December 2008.
Over the years, a number of remarkable art projects have been carried out with the constant support of the head of state and aimed at popularizing Turkmen culture in Europe and developing creative ties with Turkmenistan and Austria as a recognized center of world culture and art.
And today the organizers of the planned show, located both in Vienna and Ashgabat, are full of optimism and believe that the 5th Viennese Ball in Ashgabat will still take place “live” and are working on its preparation.
